Holocaust Memorial 2012

We have been thinking about the awfulness of the Holocaust during World War 2.  Below are some poems we have written.

Our Poems were presented at the

Holocaust Memorial Service

in Belfast at the end of January.

ANGER

Crying in the corner

Shouting in your bedroom

Crashing at the door

Blackness from the dark room

Salt from your tears

Blood from your cuts

Redness of your face

Kicking at the wall

By Grace, Lucy, Victoria and Tammy.

Fear

The whistle of the wind

The shadow of a tree on a window

The smell of smoke

A trail of red blood on the ground

Someone’s hands on my shoulder.

By Aaron and Ethan m.

Fear is

Fear is gunfire nearby

A knock on the door

A dry mouth

A gulp

The loud smashing of a window

Creaking floorboards

A guard’s uniform

By Lex, Jake and Hugh

Loneliness

 Water without a cup,

Sharp stones beneath my feet,

Plain bread without butter,

Everyone getting chocolate except me,

Grey - a gloomy colour,

Silence - a sound of loneliness.

By Leah , Beth , Alex , Emma and Holly.

Save Us

His old friend’s laughter echoed in his head

He saw the dark colours rush before his eyes grey, black and blue

He sees the guards whipping the filthy prisoners, punching, kicking them to the ground

Silently they were led away into a dark dim room

And from the other wall behind all she could hear was save us!
